Now that we've finally got the forums up and running properly, it's time to unveil the new MEWcon website. It's minty and chock full of pure unadorned awesomeness, if I do say so myself. Then again, I made it so I'm a bit biased. But let's talk business before fun, eh?
Forum Data
We were able to restore the forums to within tolerable margins. This means all posts, PMs, logins, and roles migrated successfully and with no personnel lost. Avatars and uploaded images may not have fared so well, but they're easily re-postable for anyone who wishes to do so.
A few features were removed from the forums during the migration simply because their seldom-used or visited selves were starting to dust over and smell like mothballs; the cobwebs didn't help either. They've been subsequently booted out the proverbial house during spring cleaning.
We're Sociable!
As you can see by the "Quick News" section to the left, we now have a Twitter account and a Facebook group page. Feel free to follow/join us and be immersed in wonderful MEWcon updates.
Centralized Calendar
Gone are the two calendars of the past MEWcon site! Calendar events are now in one location for easy access and quick viewing. I'm currently working on getting a calendar RSS feed up so that you can be updated whenever we post a new event. I'll let you know when it's done. It's done.
Unified Login
Now your forum username/password will not only get you into the forums, but will also log you in to the site as well. This will allow for more robust control over your content (don't like the Quick News box? Turn it off!) as well as allow for future features yet-to-be-determined. It's more of a forward-thinking thing than a true necessity, but it's also just kinda neat!
Sparseness
Unfortunately there's quite a bit of information that isn't around right now, such as the location and panels. We felt it was better to get the new site rolled out than let things get too stagnant. Rest assured the pages will be fleshed out soon!
Conclusion
Thanks so much for your patience and support. MEW3 is already looking to be a grand 'ol time and you totally awesome people (staff, volunteers, attendees, and yes, even you, random site viewer) help make it that way.
Sincerely,
Webmaster
