CONVENTION RULES AND POLICIES: By attending M.E.W. Convention, Completing the Parental Consent form or Registering for M.E.W. Convention, I agree to the following:
The policies listed herein are subject to change at any time as deemed nessisary. Breach of these policies may result in (and is NOT limited to) a warning or in expulsion from the convention without refund.
GENERAL: The following is not permitted during M.E.W. Convention: Physical or verbal harassment of the public or staff; any act which could result in substantial risk or harm to people or property; sexual misconduct such as indecent exposure, offensive touching, or sexual harassment; engaging in any activity prohibited by law; possession of any item defined as a projectile weapon, illegal or not; loitering; possession of an illegal substance.
ANIMALS: ADA working animals are allowed in the convention space. Non-ADA animals are not permitted.
FOOD & DRINK: No outside food or drink is allowed in the convention space.
CLOTHING AND SHOES: We love costumes, with that in mind please consider that this convention is an all ages event. When choosing your costumes limit your choice to PG13 and below. Due to public health and safety requirements, all members are required to wear approved footwear while in the convention space. Acceptable footwear includes shoes, sandals, flip-flops, and slippers. Members must wear attire equivalent to at least a non-thong swimsuit while in the convention area. M.E.W. reserves the right to deem a costume unacceptable and request the wearer to make modifications as necessary. Items such as towels that may be permanently stained by makeup removal, please be courteous to our hotel and abide by its policies.
SMOKING: Washington State law prohibits smoking indoors and within twenty-five feet of doorways and building ventilation access. Please follow hotel policies regarding smoking in hotel rooms.
DRINKING: If you drink, don't drive! Please have a designated driver or a room (we are in a hotel after all). Individuals must be 21 to consume alcohol in the United States. This also applies to our international Members. Serving alcohol to minors is against United States law. There is no drinking in the convention space, except where designated.
THEFT: Members caught in the act of shoplifting or stealing will be handed over to the authorities, have their membership revoked, and refused service into all future M.E.W. events with no refund of membership dues and no exceptions.
WEAPONS: No Members will be permitted to carry any kind of functional projectile weapon. This includes individuals who possess a weapons permit or concealed weapons permit. Keep them at home. Anyone found in possession of such a weapon will immediately have their membership revoked. Individuals caught in the illegal possession of a functioning projectile weapon will be reported and turned over to the proper authorities. All other items that could be used as a weapon MUST be peacebonded, these include but are not limited to stage steal, replica guns, paddles, and exotic props. Do not bring weapons that M.E.W. Staff cannot tell are fake from ten feet away. Gun replica or other replica projectile weapons should not be pointed at anyone at any time, cannot be functional, and must be plainly marked (ie, orange tipped). Replica pistols need to remain in a holster; replica rifles need to be slung. Peacebonding will be conducted at the Info Desk next to the Registration area. Please peacebond before wandering through or around the convention area. Some Exhibitors sell bladed weapons such as swords, in the case of purchasing a bladed weapon it MUST remain in its packaging and cannot be brought into the other event areas (such as main events or gaming hall) outside of the exhibitors area. Brandishing of such a weapon will result in membership being revoked.
HARASSMENT & ASSAULT: M.E.W. does not tolerate harassment. Harassment is any behavior that intentionally annoys, threatens, or alarms another person. This includes any unwanted physical contact, following someone without a legitimate reason, or threatening to physically harm someone. Remember, if someone approaches you and you tell them to leave you alone, their business with you is done. If they do not leave you alone as you have requested, their actions may be grounds for a complaint of harassment.
If an assault occurs, call 911 immediately, and then please report the matter to M.E.W Staff Member. A person who assaults or harasses another person is guilty of a crime under Washington State Law.
PRESS: M.E.W. reserves the right to grant or deny approval for all video recording requests. Permissions may be retracted at any time. Press must check at the Ops Room for additional information pertaining to Press.
RECORDING: Video recording is restricted to specific events. Please see event descriptions to see which events allow video recording. Video recording of Guests of Honor or members without their permission near their personal hotel rooms is prohibited.

M.E.W. and its affiliates are not responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or injury. Members are responsible for their individual actions and any repercussions that may result. Civil or medical emergencies are to be handled directly by the proper authorities.
