My husband and I are attending MEWcon for the first time this year, and we've worked at several cons before. We'd both love to help out. I used to run my own con at my college, and we both have been staff for Kumoricon previously. I've done merch before, and he's run tabletop games in the past. Let me know where you might need us!

Several of us who are regulars in the_creation_station yahoo group, who collectively run the rooms called Creation Station at Kumoricon, Orycon, Otafest (in Calgary, Alberta, Canada), & ChibiChibiCon (in Olympia), are going to be coming to MEW this year & would love to contribute some of our fan creation programming. For most of us, this will be our first MEW, but our member, Emily, has run fanfic panels here before. I just spoke by phone with Runa about this. Whomever is running the art/workshop space, could you please reply here or PM me? I would love to know your vision for how to maximize attendees' experience of the space at MEW, & I & our crew have several ideas that could help.
In particular, we would be happy: (1) to offer some workshops on such topics as how to make your own manga, webcomics, & fanfiction, or to assist in the offering thereof, if someone else is already doing it; (2) to run contests, if desired, in such areas as written fanfiction, performed fanfiction, and original and fan art, or to assist in the running thereof, if someone else is already doing it; (3) to provide, if running an art contest, Copic sponsorship, loaner Copic markers & ink pens, & a few prizes donated by Copic (the Japanese company whose products are used by such manga-ka as CLAMP); (4) to run a performance event in which folks read their own or others' original or fanfictions, or sing them or cosplay them, *including erotica*, or to help run such an event, if someone else is already doing it. Historically we have called this event variously "Fanfiction Bedtime Stories", "Fanfic Theatre," & simply "Bedtime Stories". If there were interest specifically in the erotica reading theme, our traditionally encouraging folks to attend in cute kid-like PJ's could even morph into encouraging folks to attend in lingerie (depending on what is permissible within the con space at an adult-only con). I would love to hear any & all opinions regarding these suggestions, including whether we would try to do them as panelists, or as staff, & who is already coordinating or running fan creation programming, & of what types.
Looking forward to an exciting con, & hoping to help, Rem/Ellen for the crew of folks from the_creation_station yahoo group who want to help with MEW.

I second all that Ellen said, and I really hope Creation Station can find a place at MEWcon. It's a Northwest institution at this point. I'll help you out any way I can, Ellen. (It's Moni, BTW)

(It's Moni, BTW) AWWWWW *blushes* You, m'dear, have now made my day 2 days in a row. Bless you for this! <3 you! Y'know, you still have until 9pm Saturday to enter something in the Kumoricon Fanfic/Manga/Webcomic Contest (for which presence at con is not required). Not like that's a hint or anything *nudge* BTW...loved that song as a kid. Hearing it in my head now, at work, & LOLg a little. MEW folks: Moni is a fabulous author & panelist & was one of the folks I referred to in my post, having connected with the CS back when we were the Beta Station in 2004!

Me too. I would really like to be staff this year. Gaming or panels as well @ both of you If you would like to be in gaming PM Legoman, if you would like to run panels and staff for programming PM Runa. Once approved as a staff member fill out the staff reg form here: http://www.mewcon.com/content/staff-registration-form-0for any panels, fill out the panel form here: http://www.mewcon.com/panel-registrationBoth panels and gaming could really really use the love so thanks! Either way helping is really appriecated. I second all that Ellen said, and I really hope Creation Station can find a place at MEWcon. It's a Northwest institution at this point. It is under Runa so if someone in CS would like to run it, talk to her. and on the nighties, lol, LOL! bikini rule applies (no sailor moon transformation uniforms) otherwise, it's fair game!

I literally LOLd at that. Okay, Runa is running a panel in the CS at KC (and I help Guy with one of his non-AMV panels every year). So we will try to chat further.
Angelsinthewindow, could you please PM me with whatever you presently have planned, and what you would like to see happening? Our crew has now 8 years of experience in the con world, helping fan creation programming happen, and we will be glad to help you in whatever ways work for you & Runa.
Great to reconnect with you, Kri! Love, Rem.

Planning on attending MEWcon for the first time this year, and would love to volunteer my time as staff, hired muscle, or whatever. While I haven't previously been staff at a con, I've attended several and have around 4-5 years of customer service-related work experience. Not sure how much that's worth, but I'd like to offer my services wherever they're needed.
