No no, it is for him. He's a guy so he's militantly aware of his environment but he only runs on like 12KHz. Easy slow words for him or he'll get lost bad.

From Union Amtrak Station, South to Everett St
East to 1st Ave
Board the MAX Red Line and take it East bound to the last stop: PDX. There should be no lapse in the route schedule that warrants any note from me. Get to the station when you get there. Expect to get into the airport in about 45 minutes to an hour after you board. I would walk from Union Station to 1st & Everett but that's because I'm a hardass that's used to it. If your luggage is that heavy I guess you can wait for buses.

there's now max-lines that go straight to Union Station.

Go to the NW 5th & Glisan station (2-blocks from Union-Station).
Take any train south 3 stops, get off at pioneer place/SW 5th Ave. MAX
You can transfer to the Red line from there and follow DaemonForce's directions.

Taking the Max beats taking the bus 'coz its free & has more room for luggage.

I take the Max from PSU to Union Station all the time: most convenient way to travel from my dorm to my parent's house in Seattle.

If the elements are that troublesome, this would definitely be the way to go. I don't like waiting on trains and carts so I usually do the walking thing. My biggest problem is that I'm going to arrive way too early on the day before. Because of this, I'm probably going to waste time looking around in shops or I'll be hanging around that Sushi shop on 3rd & Morrison. I just wonder if anything will be open. New Year's Day in PDX is probably a lot like Independence Day in SEA. Everything is probably going to shut down for the weekend. I might get lucky and plan a few good places but I wouldn't know anything about it since I'm not a resident.
