While I have been a fan of anime since i was a really young (WAY to young to be reading something like mason Ikkoku anyway!) I have never been to an anime convention. sure i have been to pax and some smaller gaming shows, and I even made it out to toy fair last year. I have yet to actually make it to an anime con.

So i'm wondering what are some of your "must attend events" at shows like mew con?

if your curious about who i am check out some of my sites

download this papercraft kit of the twewy frog i made

That frog is awesome. You should totally run a panel to teach people how to make them!

Since you're into crafts involving paper, you might want to check out the panel on using collage to make old-school bookmarks with cool images from canon and fanon of sci-fi and fantasy classics. All the supplies are provided.

Personally though I would enjoy being there Fri & Sat I can only afford one day, Sunday.
I'll be at the Harry Potter Fanfic Workshop (if driving conditions permit), the Catholic Mass for Fans & Fan Creations (I'm not Christian but want to know what's real and what's made up when scenes in movies and such are set in churches); and the fandom meet-ups for Doctor Who and The Whedon-Verse (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, etc.). Then also the art contest, and likely drop by the Steampunk Ball.

Hope to see you at some of those! And I'm serious, I'd take a panel to learn how to make stuff like your frog!

Sweet, Hope you enjoy your first con. But remember this isn't a strictly anime con.... its and everything con. XD

It's really chill. If I have nothing to do you'll find me in the rock band room like last year.

Welcome to MEW (^_^) This was my second con so I really enjoy attending. This year I get to be in the Artist Alley and I'd recommend going there since everyone has something different and its nice to network with fellow artists. Personally I would just look at the panel descriptions and pick what interests you. It's different every con but usually main events panels are "must attend" events. Other than that the countdown to the New Year is fun too.

I agree with Rem -- hang out at the craft events and allow yourself to be captured by the Creation Station folks. It happened to me, and now I'm happily doing panels and workshops at four cons a year.

We used Kinko's last year and were very happy with the results.

Actually Mewcon will be a cross genre convention there will be much more than just anime.
