We have our winner from the Aki Con random comment contest!
For those of you who did not attend, we had a wooden craft moth/butterfly and snake that we put up on display with silly comments floating above their heads. We challenged con-goers to write a random comment to go with each creature, and the winner would receive a prize pack from me at Mew Con.
And so our official winner is:
Leif Celusta Leif's comments were:
Snake- Lawls, you'z a wooden snayk Mawth
Moth: Don't make me go Sam Jackson on yews
Honorable mention goes to whoever wrote Shouryuken as an entry. That's just cool. So if Leif see this, he just needs to let us know that he will be at Mew Con to pick up his prize package! |

I would like to say something to the students and first time voters. Regardless of if your happy or sad this morning I would like to congratulate you all on letting your voice be heard. Voting rates for students have been typically 20% or less, effectively making them ignorable, but this election the student voice was heard. It doesn't matter really what that voice said, but that it was heard. So to all of you congratulations again, whether or not you are happy with the results at least you have had a voice and democracy works. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. |

NaNoWriMo? What the..?!
I know it sounds weird but it's great fun. Let me explain. It stands for National Novel Writing Month. It is a crazy race to get a rough draft, and I do mean very rough draft of a novel written in 30 days. Yes folks 50,000 words from November 1st to November 30th. They emphasize fiction writing but really it can be about anything, from that autobiography you have been meaning to write, to how to make Klingon battle gear, to knitting with cat fur. I mean really what else can you do with it after all?
NaNo is in it's 10th year and going stronger then ever. The official book "of No Plot? No Problem!" by Chris Baty, one of the founders of NaNoWriMo is a blast to read even if you never plan on partaking in the crazy antics of this marathon writing month. http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node |
