Pick your music and put on your dancing shoes! Do you dance like a pro or is your dance that of the funky robot chicken? From comedy to art, no matter the style we'd like to see you up on stage! Do you need a black light or glows sticks to accent your entry? We're here to help! Request glows or lighting in the run through. This event will be from 14:30-16:30 Jan 1st with a run through from 1300-1430 Jan. 1st in the Main Events Room, see you there!

CATEGORY:
Individual
Group

SUBCATEGORY:
Existing choreography
Original choreography
Interpretive/Improvised choreography

What is "Existing" vs. "Original?"
Existing is something that already exists, like the Hare Hare Yukai, or Massara Blue Jeans dance.
Original is a dance you choreographed yourself or is completely original; a never been done before dance.

A little "Original" choreography will be allowed in "Existing" dances. It is more encouraged if you are doing a "Popular Dance," so it will spice things up a little bit. As long as it is recognizably "Existing" choreography for most of the dance.

For the "Interpretive/Improv" category, people can sign up here or at the convention and we'll put on a random song
(we'll try to make it one the entrant is familiar with) and they will make up a dance on the spot.

"Popular Dances" The most likely dances that will fall under this category are the Hare Hare Yukai and Motteke! Sailor Fuku dances. A little variety in the choreography is encouraged, dances will compete with others in there category but WAIT! there's a twist... if enough entries are submitted of any one dance groups and individuals will be pitted against each other. Bwaahahaha!

Print out this entry form: http://www.mewcon.com/joomla/index.php/contests/84-cosplay-choreography-contest-form or pick one up at the MEWCon Info Booth prior to the event.

We have our winner from the Aki Con random comment contest!

For those of you who did not attend, we had a wooden craft moth/butterfly and snake that we put up on display with silly comments floating above their heads. We challenged con-goers to write a random comment to go with each creature, and the winner would receive a prize pack from me at Mew Con.

And so our official winner is:

Leif Celusta

Leif's comments were:

Snake- Lawls, you'z a wooden snayk Mawth

Moth: Don't make me go Sam Jackson on yews

Honorable mention goes to whoever wrote Shouryuken as an entry. That's just cool.
So if Leif see this, he just needs to let us know that he will be at Mew Con to pick up his prize package!

Thank You for Voting! No Matter Which Side You Chose. PDF Print E-mail

I would like to say something to the students and first time voters. Regardless of if your happy or sad this morning I would like to congratulate you all on letting your voice be heard. Voting rates for students have been typically 20% or less, effectively making them ignorable, but this election the student voice was heard. It doesn't matter really what that voice said, but that it was heard. So to all of you congratulations again, whether or not you are happy with the results at least you have had a voice and democracy works. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
