Helping Out The Community:

So, you want to be more involved but you still want to enjoy all of the convention? We have community service and street team programs that may be a good fit for you. Check out the community service listed on our calendar and community sections or the volunteer staffing opportunities listed below:

 
Joining M.E.W. Convention:
 
Do you have an interest in behind the scenes? Would you like to join in creating a new event? We'd like to hear from you! There are many opportunities waiting for your personal touch and creativity. Come to our general meetings, sign up on the forums or send us an email for listings in your area of interest. If you can't decide, we have many flexible positions open for your enjoyment.

Full Volunteer Staff will receive free entrance to the convention and staff benefits, part time volunteers may receive up to half of their membership fee refunded based on time put into the convention.

What are the responsibilities of each department?

General Contracting and Registrations:
Duties including but not limited to contracting of hotel, vendors, artist alley, art show, registration of attendees and guests of honor.

Logistics/IS Duties include but are not limited to: delivery, storage and access of organization's information. Using computers to deliver information about the con to attendees, helping other departments with their efforts and facilitate communication between all parties involved in the convention. The setup and repair of  networks, machines and other hardware at the convention space.  Creating and/or finding software solutions and identification of problems as well as any education people might need to use the solutions.

Publications: Duties including but not limited to designing and publication of material relating to the convention, including but not limited to website articles, zines, fliers, badges, signs, posters, program or pocket guides. Working with the Administrator and General Contractor to ensure all projects are within the department’s budget.

PR/Promotions:
  Duties including but not limited to coordinating and organizing fan and street teams efforts, promotional events and public relations before and during the convention, seeking industry contacts for swag and for charity raffle, purchase and trade of convention tables (with available table space approved by the General Contractor) Ad space purchase and trades (with available space publishing space approved by Publications), community event appearances such as races, marathons, fairs, and festivals. Working with the Administrator and General Contractor to ensure all projects are within the department’s budget.

Programming:  Duties including but not limited to coordinating and organizing events, panels, dances, and game room, coordinating schedule of guest panels and appearances with Guest Relations, coordinating and providing updates on descriptives for convention events, panels and dances, working with the Administrator and General Contractor for convention space layout and to ensure all projects are within the department’s budget.

Guest Relations: Duties including but not limited to coordinating and talking with industry guests, vendors, and guests of honor, assisting in coordinating green room industry and guest party, addressing vendor concerns at the convention, working with the Administrator choose and arrange guests of honor, finding appropriate liaisons for guests, making sure guests have all they need including light itineraries listing; the times of their flights and panels; a list of contact numbers for their liaison, the PR Exec, and Administrator; a picture of the person picking them up at the airport (if applicable)

AEGIS: Duties including but not limited to coordinating AEGIS, organizing volunteers, medical, and staff lounge, working with the Administrator and General Contractor for convention space layout to insure the security and well being of all people attending the convention and to ensure all AEGIS department projects are within the department’s budget.

What: Mew Con will have a table set up in the hallway for passing out fliers and taking pre-registrations.  If anyone wants to come by and help work the table or pass out fliers, it would be greatly appreciate!

Come join us! Free geek is on the bus line or check out the car pool section of the forum to see if any rides are available.
